The Challenge

It is now the time for me and my two partners to embark on the bottle rocket challenge. I remember in my Junior year of high school seeing these rockets taking flight on Konia field. Most seemed to fail either the parachute would not deploy or the rocket would get stuck in the Midkiff tree. Now i know that the objective of this project is to keep the bottle rocket in the air for ten seconds. With my research I have found out that the hardest part of this project will be developing our parachute system. I talked to a student that had endured this challenge last year and he said that everything is pretty easy sailing but the parachute is the trickiest part. I can envision it right now all the problems we are going to have with it. The parachute can't open to early or to late but at that split second where the bottle is frozen in mid air.

Blog #1 (First!!!)

Hey so this is new blog about our water bottle rocket project.  It sounds like a really fun project and today we had to find a website that would help us to better understand what we are doing.  This is the link that I found for it: http://monsterguide.net/how-to-build-a-water-rocket.  This site is a pretty good resource to learn how to build a water bottle rocket.  Though  it says that you need two water bottles, it can made with only one.  It seems like the person who wrote it really knows what he/she is talking about.  It even talks about a parachute the decent down to the ground.  I may even try to use one of the nozzles that was spoken off in said article.  Hopefully with this information we'll be able to make an awesome rocket.  Also this is a photo of my bottle that will soon be a rocket. :D
